BACKGROUND: Marie was born in Haiti, moved to the United States at age ten, and quickly learned to speak English. Marie took a leave of absence to join the United States Navy Reserves to serve her new country of citizenship. Marie returned to Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences, graduated with her Associate's degree in Nursing in 2015, passed her nursing boards in 2016, and began her journey as a Registered Nurse.
NURSING CAREER: Marie's nursing career started at Pediatric Specialty Care, where she gained experience caring for critically ill children. She later managed the medical transport department at Pediatric Specialty Care. Marie gained additional clinical knowledge with the Cardiovascular Surgery Team at Lancaster General Hospital. She then worked as a home health pediatric nurse while earning her Bachelor's degree at Chamberlain University. Next Marie worked as a nurse manager, caring for the geriatric population at The Mennonite Home, where she had the pleasure of meeting Miss Phyllis Kreider. After two years Marie was promoted to the Assistant Director of Nursing at The Mennonite Home. In December of 2023, Marie resigned from Mennonite Home to continue her nursing leadership career as a case manager, intending to complete her Master's Degree in Nursing Leadership.

She enjoys spending quality time with her beautiful daughter Zophia and puppy Ashton during her free time. She also enjoys sharing her culture by introducing others to her home-cooked Haitian dishes.
Special Opportunity for Recipients
In December of 2034 all of the scholarship recipients and representatives of their College or University will be invited to the 110th Birthday Celebration for Phyllis Kreider. It will be a time to reflect on your career choice, your impact on the community, and for your College or University to re-connect with their students. The friends of Phyllis who manage her Donor Advised Fund assure you of a great meal and an opportunity to share your story and celebrate your accomplishments. We will take pictures and film to inspire future generations of scholarship applicants in YOUR words.
